On December 4 and 5, the Vietnamese Embassies and Defence Attaché Offices in Venezuela and Mexico commemorated the 80th anniversary of the Việt Nam People’s Army (VPA) and the 35th anniversary of the All-People Defence Festival. In Venezuela, Ambassador Vũ Trung Mỹ underscored the VPA’s historical achievements and the continuous strengthening of defence relations between the two nations, noting the exchange of military delegation and cultural training. Vice President Jorge Marquez expressed admiration for Vietnam’s revolutionary military principles, advocating for deeper collaboration in defence.
In Mexico, Ambassador-Designate Nguyễn Hải Vân highlighted Vietnam’s commitment to international defence cooperation and active participation in UN peacekeeping missions, promoting peace and stability. Major General Jose Filiberto Nuñez Salina from the Mexican Ministry of Defence praised shared historical ties and the potential for enhanced bilateral relations, emphasizing political and trade partnerships. Additionally, on December 2, the Vietnamese Defence Attaché Office opened in Mexico in anticipation of the diplomatic relations’ 50th anniversary in 2025.
