In a significant achievement, Ganfeng Lithium, a leading Chinese lithium company, has commenced production at its Goulamina lithium mine in Mali. Estimates suggest that it could sustain over 23 years of exploration, yielding approximately 15.6 million tonnes of spodumene concentrate. During the inauguration of the processing plant, Mali’s transitional President Assimi Goita hailed the collaboration with China as a “strategic and sincere” partnership. President Goita emphasized the importance of the lithium mine for Mali’s economic development, stating that the launch of the facility represents a considerable advancement in the country’s natural resource exploitation.
Additionally, Chinese Ambassador to Mali, Chen Zhihong, remarked that the Goulamina project exemplifies successful win-win cooperation between the nations, further highlighting the project’s significance in bolstering bilateral relations.
