The construction of the border wall between the Dominican Republic and Haiti is progressing rapidly, with the initial phase reaching 84% completion. This undertaking spans the provinces of Montecristi, Dajabón, Elías Piña, Independencia, and Pedernales, with an expected completion date in February 2025. The Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, announced that the project has incurred costs of approximately 32 million dollars out of a total planned budget of 39.5 million, exclusive of technological equipment.
This security initiative is designed not only to fortify the border with a physical barrier but also to integrate a sophisticated surveillance system consisting of radars, motion detectors, high-definition night vision cameras, and surveillance drones, all providing real-time information to control centers.
