Morocco and Central African Republic Forge Military Partnership

General Mohammed Berrid and General Zéphirin Mamadou engaged in talks in Rabat to enhance military collaboration. Their discussions focused on training and exchange programs, emphasizing Morocco’s role in supporting the Central African Armed Forces. General Mamadou expressed gratitude for Morocco’s contributions to peacekeeping efforts in the Central African Republic.

General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), convened discussions today in Rabat with General Zéphirin Mamadou, Chief of Staff of the Central African Armed Forces. The meeting, held at the FAR’s General Staff headquarters, is part of General Mamadou’s official visit to Morocco from January 17 to 23, accompanied by a notable military delegation.

The dialogue between the two military leaders focused on strengthening bilateral military cooperation, with a particular emphasis on training initiatives and the exchange of visits. Both Generals recognized the robust partnership that exists between the FAR and the Central African Armed Forces, underlining the importance of their collaboration.

During the discussions, General Mamadou expressed deep appreciation to King Mohammed VI for the ongoing support extended to the Central African Armed Forces. He acknowledged the invaluable contributions made by Moroccan forces in stabilizing the Central African Republic through the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission (MINUSCA).

Later in the day, General Mamadou met with Abdeltif Loudyi, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government responsible for the National Defense Administration. They explored avenues to enhance cooperation between Morocco and the Central African Republic across various domains of mutual interest.

Since 2014, Morocco has played an active role in peacekeeping operations in the Central African Republic, deploying a contingent of 750 soldiers under the MINUSCA mission. This involvement reflects Morocco’s commitment to improving military capabilities through strategic international partnerships, enhancing its defense posture while fostering alliances.

The discussions between Morocco and the Central African Republic highlight the strengthening military collaboration between the two nations. Key areas of training, peacekeeping contributions, and strategic partnerships have been identified for further development. This cooperation not only consolidates Morocco’s role in regional security but also enhances its military effectiveness through international alliances.
