In comparison, the South African segment of the KGB is more accessible and has been the site of considerable mineral findings, such as the Kalgold mine by Harmony Gold.
The firm’s exploration approach emphasizes the use of high-resolution Remote Mapper UAV magnetic surveys, with 80% of the project area already surveyed. Ken Armstrong, President and CEO of North Arrow, mentioned the importance of identifying priority targets quickly and effectively. The magnetic surveys will be crucial for deeper geological understanding and are expected to conclude in April, leading to a targeted three-month reverse-circulation (RC) drilling program planned for May to assess gold potential further.
In addition to magnetic surveys, the team is mapping known banded iron formations (BIF) within the project area, which have previously indicated gold mineralization. Historical exploration yielded gold grades of up to 5.1 g/t, reaffirming the site’s potential. The correlation between the newly obtained Remote Mapper data and geological insights is expected to enhance the identification of gold-bearing targets beneath the Kalahari cover.
The anticipated RC drilling program will commence in May to explore targets revealed by the Remote Mapper surveys and geological mappings. It aims to collect geochemical samples from the Kalahari cover and underlying bedrock, facilitating the identification of new gold zones. The optimized drilling technique is projected to allow the completion of 3 to 5 drill holes daily, setting the stage for follow-up assessments with deeper drilling in subsequent years.
North Arrow’s Kraaipan Gold Project consists of three mineral concessions across a 60 km stretch of the KGB, which displays significant mining promise. Collaborating with Rockman Resources, North Arrow is committed to investing US$5 million in the project by 2027, with a planned investment of at least US$1 million due by 2025 to advance exploration efforts.
