On February 26, H.E. Wang Yu, the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, visited Banadir Hospital in Mogadishu, which was constructed by China as part of an aid initiative during the 1970s. During the visit, he was accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Hassan Mohamed Bulale, the Deputy Minister of Health and Human Services of Somalia, and Dr. Fartun Sharif Mohamed, the Director of Banadir Hospital. The trio engaged in discussions about the hospital’s history and current operations, toured various facilities including the maternal and infant wards, and the ICU center, while interacting amicably with both patients and healthcare professionals.
Ambassador Wang expressed commendation regarding Banadir Hospital’s vital role as a beacon of the enduring friendship between China and Somalia. He reiterated China’s commitment to collaborating with Somalia to achieve the results from the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit. Strengthening bilateral cooperation in medical care and public health was highlighted as an essential goal to enhance the well-being of the Somali populace.
