GCC Ministerial Council Commends Qatar and Supports Gaza Peace Initiatives

The GCC Ministerial Council praised Qatar for its diplomatic efforts regarding Gaza and supported the Palestinian-Egyptian-Arab plan. The GCC Ministerial Council has commended the cooperative efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States in achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The Council emphasized the urgent need to abide by this agreement, cease Israeli aggression, and withdraw completely from Gaza and other Palestinian territories. This statement was part of the conclusion of the Council’s meeting in Makkah Al Mukarramah on Thursday.

Additionally, the GCC lauded Qatar for organizing the upcoming 2024 Doha Forum, which will focus on “The Imperative of Innovation,” taking place on December 7, 2024. In relation to the Gaza situation, the Council demonstrated its solidarity with the Palestinian people, advocating for an end to the blockade imposed on Gaza. It called for efforts to mitigate humanitarian distress and ensure the safe transit of essential aid to residents in the area.

The Council expressed its backing for the Palestinian-Egyptian-Arab plan, which was sanctioned during the extraordinary “Palestine Summit” held on March 4, 2025, in Cairo. It highlighted the necessity for the future governance of Gaza to be established within the framework of a unified Palestinian state in accordance with the two-state solution.

Moreover, the GCC acknowledged the initiatives undertaken by its member states to halt Israeli actions in Gaza, as well as the humanitarian assistance provided to the region. The importance of domestic and international campaigns aimed at supporting the Palestinian populace was also emphasized.

The Ministerial Council conveyed its commitment to respecting Syrian sovereignty and independence, opposing foreign interference in its internal matters, and accentuated that Syria’s security remains crucial for regional stability.

In terms of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the Council stated its position aligned with international law and the UN Charter, advocating for respect of national sovereignty and territorial integrity while denouncing the use of force.

Finally, the Ministerial Council welcomed the outcomes from the joint ministerial meeting involving the GCC and several Arab nations held on March 6, 2025. It underscored the importance of fostering economic relations to advance trade and investment interests, which include free trade agreements under negotiation with various countries and economic groups.
