Sudan has initiated a lawsuit against the UAE, alleging the provision of arms to the RSF. Hussein Shingrai, a Sudanese political leader, argues that such support has prolonged the conflict. The UAE has dismissed the case as a mere publicity stunt.
Sudan’s military-led government has publicly asserted its right to file a lawsuit against the United Arab Emirates for purportedly providing weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Hussein Shingrai, the foreign affairs secretary of the People’s Democratic Party of Sudan, stated that the conflict would have reached a resolution much sooner had it not been for this external support.
The Sudanese government firmly believes that they are justified in pursuing legal action against the UAE in the International Court of Justice, citing allegations of violations pertaining to the genocide convention. This move is part of Sudan’s broader efforts to hold external actors accountable in the ongoing conflict involving the RSF.
