According to CAN Secretary Paras Khadka, the women’s senior team is currently engaged in a quadrangular series in Uganda. Following this, they will tour Bhutan in April, then participate in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers in Thailand in May, and the Women’s Emerging Team Asia Cup in June. Notably, Malaysia has organized a tri-series with Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) set for October, while CAN will host a pentangular series in December, which will include teams from Uganda, Namibia, the UAE, and the Netherlands.
Additionally, CAN is introducing a 50-over-format Women’s Elite Cup for the first time in October, coinciding with the proposal of a tour for the women’s team to Sri Lanka, as Khadka mentioned. The men’s senior team is confirmed to tour Sri Lanka in July as part of their preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers to be held in Oman in October. Other international engagements for the men’s team include visits to India, Australia, and UAE.
Khadka emphasized the priority of qualifying for the World Cup and accruing points in the CWC League 2. In June, Nepal will participate in a CWC League 2 tri-series in Scotland alongside the Netherlands. The calendar also outlines the player release and retain process, along with a mini auction for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), scheduled for June and August.
Khadka additionally stated that the date for the second NPL will be confirmed upon approval from the International Cricket Council (ICC). Furthermore, CAN will host a National School Championship in May, targeting students who have graduated from SEE, as part of their effort to foster cricket at the grassroots level through collaboration with district and provincial bodies.
