Additionally, he criticized the PNM’s economic management, particularly the closure of the Petrotrin refinery without seeking buyers. Ramadhar warned of an impending foreign exchange crisis that could lead to severe food shortages, drawing a comparison to the hardships faced in Venezuela. He suggested that if the situation deteriorates further, T&T may even end up like Haiti.
Refuting outdated political narratives, Ramadhar asserted, “The old propaganda about politicians ‘thiefing’ won’t be enough to sway voters this time.” He acknowledged COP’s historical dormancy but insisted the party, always alive, is beginning to reclaim its vision and moral leadership in the national political landscape, stressing the importance of integrity and honesty in leadership.
In rallying supporters, Ramadhar invoked a sense of urgency to revive the COP’s presence in T&T politics.
