This statement came after social media circulated comments attributed to Minister of Local Governance Badr Al-Din Al-Toumi following a meeting with Nicoletta Giordano from the International Organization for Migration in Libya.
The GNU reaffirmed its firm stance against illegal migration and reiterated its rejection of immigrant resettlement proposals, a position previously asserted during the Trans-Mediterranean Migration Forum in July 2024.
