This growth equates to an addition of 521,000 visitors, driven predominantly by key source markets, as per the Ministry of Tourism’s data.
The month of February witnessed approximately 1.4 million arrivals, which marks a 22% increase, amounting to 248,000 more visitors than in the same month last year. This positive trend results from both an 18% rise in foreign tourists, highlighting an increase of 119,000 entries, and a 26% growth in the number of Moroccans living abroad, totaling 130,000 entries.
Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, emphasized the significance of this increase, stating: “Adding half a million visitors in just two months underlines Morocco’s place among the world’s leading destinations.” She further remarked on the economic benefits, stating, “Every visitor who chooses Morocco plays a direct role in boosting our regions’ economies, creating jobs, and supporting youth inclusion.
Morocco has surpassed its tourism target, achieving 17.4 million visitors by the end of 2024, two years ahead of the anticipated 2026 goal. As tourism emerges as a cornerstone of Morocco’s economy, the Ministry of Tourism and the Moroccan Tourism Office (ONMT) remain committed to enhancing and expanding the sector.
The strategy involves various initiatives, such as partnerships with global travel agencies and airlines, to maintain the momentum of attracting tourists through both organic growth and strategic collaborations.
