The Council urged all Member States and the international community to reject any attempts to recognize this parallel government or provide support to any armed or political faction advocating for a partition.
Affirming its stance, the Council reiterated its commitment to Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity amid the ongoing crisis that has resulted in the displacement of over 12 million individuals. The PSC called for immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access during Ramadan, advocating for inclusive peace negotiations to restore national unity.
Furthermore, the Council emphasized collaboration with Sudanese stakeholders to achieve sustainable solutions to the conflict, based on the AU Roadmap adopted in May 2023. It highlighted the importance of resuming the political dialogue overseen by the AU and IGAD while implementing the Jeddah Declaration signed between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF in May 2023. The PSC underscored the necessity of focusing on key points outlined in the Roadmap, including humanitarian access and a comprehensive ceasefire.
The Council also supported the efforts of the PSC Ad-hoc Presidential Committee and the High-Level Panel on Sudan, aimed at facilitating a consensual political resolution to the ongoing crisis. The PSC concluded the meeting by affirming its dedication to remain engaged on this critical matter regarding Sudan’s future.
