Iran has expressed its approval of the prospective peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan aimed at resolving decades-long hostilities. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, regards this announcement as a crucial step towards achieving enduring peace in the South Caucasus region. He conveyed hopes for both nations to address their residual issues through discussion and to finalize the agreement promptly.
Both Armenia and Azerbaijan disclosed on Thursday that they have settled on the content of the peace deal, with Armenia agreeing to relinquish its claim over Karabakh. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov indicated that negotiations on the peace agreement’s text have reached completion and that Armenia has accepted Azerbaijan’s terms concerning two previously contentious elements of the treaty.
