Gamerji Targets Expansion in Key Markets for Gaming-as-a-Service Model

Gamerji aims to expand its gaming-as-a-service model in India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Partnered with telecom companies, it has garnered 65-70 million users by offering virtual currency rewards for gameplay. Despite challenges related to localization and cultural differences, the company remains focused on growth and potential collaborations for major esports tournaments.

Gamerji, an esports platform based in Ahmedabad, is set to expand its gaming-as-a-service model in India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The company collaborates with 34 global telecom companies to integrate popular games such as FIFA and Valorant within telco apps and tohost international tournaments.

Founder Sohan Thacker noted, “We have partnered with telecom companies like Vodafone Idea in India and Du in UAE, amassing over 65-70 million users.” Gamerji incentivizes gameplay by offering virtual currency rewards that can be converted to discounts on telecom services, enhancing user engagement and experience.

Initially challenging to convince telecom companies of the potential for gaming on their platforms, Gamerji now derives 37% of its revenue from the B2B telecom sector. The MyVI app reports thousands of daily users, while foreign telcos see even higher engagement with 20,000-30,000 active users daily.

Thacker highlighted growth challenges including data localization laws and the diverse preferences for games across different regions, complicating the organization of cross-country tournaments. Moving forward, Gamerji intends to strengthen its position in its target markets and is considering collaborations with federations for significant events like the Esports Olympics and Southeast Sports World Cup.
