Iran Secures Third Place at Karate 1-Premier League in Hangzhou

Team Melli of Iran placed third at the Karate 1-Premier League in Hangzhou, following Japan and Egypt. Notable performances included Atousa Golshadnezhad’s victory in the Female Kumite -61kg final, while other matches resulted in losses for Iranian athletes Saleh Abazari and Fatemeh Saadati. Two bronze medals were secured by Bahman Asgari Ghoncheh and Mehdi Khodabakhshi.

The Karate 1-Premier League concluded with Team Melli of Iran securing a commendable third place, finishing behind competitors Japan and Egypt. The event showcased a total of 381 karate athletes representing 68 countries in Hangzhou.

In the Female Kumite -61kg final, Iran’s Atousa Golshadnezhad narrowly defeated Germany’s Khamis Reem, achieving a score of 4-3 in a tightly contested match. Conversely, in the Female Kumite -55kg final, Fatemeh Saadati faced Japan’s Rina Kodo and experienced a defeat with a score of 4-0.

In the Male Kumite +84kg final, Saleh Abazari encountered Georgia’s Merabi Gelashvili, suffering a loss with a score of 5-3. Additionally, the bronze medal matches saw Bahman Asgari Ghoncheh earn a victory against Croatia’s Ivan Martinca, winning the Male Kumite -75kg event with a score of 1-0. Mehdi Khodabakhshi also achieved success in the Male Kumite -84kg category, defeating the Netherlands’ Brian Timmermans with a score of 3-0.
