Khaan Quest 2024 Launches with Emphasis on Multinational Peacekeeping Training

Khaan Quest 2024 commenced on July 27, 2024, at the Five Hills Training Facility, involving soldiers from the Mongolian Armed Forces and participants from twenty UN member countries. This annual multinational exercise focuses on enhancing regional peace and security through training and cultural exchange. Khaan Quest 2024 commenced on July 27, 2024, at the Five Hills Training Facility located near Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The event is hosted by the Mongolian Armed Forces and includes participants from twenty nations under the auspices of the United Nations.

This annual multinational training exercise aims to enhance regional peace and security through both command post and field training. This year’s focus on realistic, scenario-based training is designed to strengthen peacekeeping operations and promote effective collaboration with humanitarian organizations and host nation partners.

Opening remarks at the ceremony were made by several distinguished figures, including Maj. Gen. S. Ganbyamba, Chief of General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, Honorable S. Byambatsogtu of the Mongolian Parliament, U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia Richard Buangan, and USARPAC Deputy Commanding General, Maj. Gen. Scott Winter.

Maj. Gen. Ganbyamba expressed, “I firmly believe that the success of Mongolian peacekeepers can be attributed to the Khaan Quest peace support operations exercise,” highlighting its vital role in enhancing the competencies of peacekeepers.

In its 21st year, Khaan Quest has attracted over 900 participants from diverse countries including the United States, Canada, China, and the United Kingdom. Beyond mere training, the event fosters multicultural interactions and camaraderie among the participants.

Maj. Gen. Scott Winter emphasized the unwavering commitment to global peace, stating, “Our commitment to peace and security stands unwavering. Khaan Quest 24 reaffirms our dedication to upholding international law, protecting human rights, and maintaining global stability.”

The ceremony showcased traditional Mongolian culture, featuring music, dance performances, and soldiers dressed in ceremonial uniforms. Ambassador Buangan noted, “Peacekeeping serves an essential purpose around the world… That is why we support and participate in Khaan Quest, to collectively prepare ourselves for an unknown future where peace is the ultimate goal.”
