Marco Bezzecchi has acknowledged that qualifying remains his “weakest point” as he adapts to the Aprilia RS-GP motorcycle. For the Argentinian Grand Prix, Bezzecchi secured a ninth-place qualification, following which he achieved a seventh-place finish in the Sprint race, a result he expressed some satisfaction with.
Bezzecchi remarked, “It was a decent race. Starting ninth was not the best, but still in qualifying I’m struggling a bit – it’s my weakest point, let’s say.” He noted his strong pace during the Sprint, especially in braking, which allowed him to execute favorable overtakes.
In contrast, fellow satellite Aprilia rider Ai Ogura faced challenges during qualifying, qualifying in 15th position. Despite expectations rising due to his previous double-top-five performance in Thailand, Ogura encountered a crash in Q1 and experienced difficulties at the start of the race, resulting in missed opportunities for position gains.
Ogura stated, “In qualifying, in some parts of the track, I improved a little bit from [Friday], but it wasn’t enough for Q2 and I had a crash in Q1.” Although he struggled with rhythm and executed significant mistakes during the race, he remains optimistic about future races, indicating a focus on improvement for the upcoming long-distance competition.
