O&L will rename Pick n Pay Namibia to Model starting July 1, 2025, marking an evolution in retail. Managing Director Graeme Mouton promises a unique shopping experience, while Executive Chairman Sven Thieme emphasizes the commitment to quality and continuity for employees and customers.
Ohlthaver & List Group (O&L) has officially announced that as of July 1, a new Namibian brand named “Model” will replace Pick n Pay Namibia. This transition follows O&L’s decision to terminate its franchise agreement with Pick n Pay South Africa in June 2025, ending a 27-year presence in Namibia. Managing Director Graeme Mouton emphasized the brand’s commitment to redefining the retail experience with quality products and a curated shopping atmosphere tailored to customer needs.
The official launch of Model is set for July 1, 2025, and preparations are already underway with a phased refurbishment to introduce the Model experience progressively. Mouton expressed enthusiasm for this transition, inviting Namibians to join them in this innovative journey. He stated that clients can anticipate a new standard in grocery retail marked by inspiration and seamless experiences reflective of local culture.
Sven Thieme, O&L’s Executive Chairman, highlighted the significance of this transition, recalling the company’s beginnings with Model in 1965. He noted that the change signifies a profound evolution in shopping practices for Namibians while reaffirming O&L’s dedication to both employees and customers, aiming for continuity in service and the introduction of new growth opportunities.
The transition from Pick n Pay Namibia to Model represents a significant evolution in the retail landscape of Namibia, emphasizing quality and customer-centric shopping experiences. With plans for a comprehensive rollout in mid-2025, Model aims to build on O&L’s heritage while ensuring a fresh approach to grocery shopping. This change reflects O&L’s commitment to its people and reestablishes its roots in Namibian retail.
