Egypt Initiates EGP 4 Billion Support for Families on Ration Cards

Ahmed Kouchouk, the Minister of Finance, alongside Sherif Farouk, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, has assessed the progress of this presidential directive designed to alleviate financial hardships faced by the vulnerable population.

The initiative will allocate EGP 2 billion from the government’s additional financial appropriations under the social protection scheme. The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade is set to distribute EGP 125 to individuals on single-person ration cards and EGP 250 to those on cards for two or more family members for the months of March and April.

The disbursement for this program commenced today and is expected to benefit approximately 10 million families in dire need of financial assistance.
