India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged the Netherlands to withhold military support to Pakistan during a meeting with Minister Ruben Brekelmans, citing Pakistan’s sponsorship of terrorism. The discussion also covered strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, focusing on various technological domains, including AI. Singh raised concerns about the Sikhs for Justice group and called for US action against its anti-India activities.

On a recent occasion, India urged the Netherlands to refrain from supplying military arms and technology to Pakistan, emphasizing the detrimental impact such actions have on regional security. This request was articulated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh during a meeting with Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans in New Delhi. It is reported that Pakistan has been associated with terrorism, and Singh underscored that nations that are allies of India should not support a known terrorist sponsor.

Singh highlighted the historical collaboration between the Netherlands and Pakistan in the naval sector, with Amsterdam’s previous deliveries of second-hand minehunters and offshore patrol vessels to Islamabad. The discussions during the meeting not only focused on arms but also on fostering bilateral cooperation in various domains, including defence security, information exchange, and advancements in technology within the Indo-Pacific region.

During their discussions, both ministers explored collaborative opportunities in shipbuilding, the equipment sector, and space technology, aiming to optimize joint capabilities in skills and technology. Topics such as artificial intelligence and enhanced connectivity between the respective defence technology research institutes were also on the agenda.

In addition, Singh took to social media to express his satisfaction in meeting his Dutch counterpart, highlighting the discussions on defense cooperation and anticipating a further strengthening of ties. The conversations covered various issues, including cybersecurity, the Indo-Pacific partnership, and emerging technologies.

On a related note, Singh previously raised concerns regarding the US-based secessionist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and its connections to Pakistan’s intelligence agency during discussions with US Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard. He urged the designation of this group as a terrorist entity, advocating for action against its anti-India initiatives carried out on US soil.

The request by India to the Netherlands not to supply arms to Pakistan underscores the ongoing tensions regarding terrorism and regional security issues. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s emphasis on reinforcing ties with the Netherlands further reflects India’s commitment to strengthening its defence cooperation amid global security challenges. The discussions on emerging technologies and collaborative defence efforts signify a strategic partnership aimed at mutual interests in security and technological advancements.
