Iran Condemns Trump’s Remarks, Calls Them ‘Belligerent’

Iran condemned President Trump’s “belligerent statements” made regarding the Islamic republic, regarding them as violations of the UN Charter. The Iranian envoy accused the U.S. of justifying aggression against Yemen. Trump’s remarks also suggested accountability for Iran in relation to Huthi rebel attacks.

On Monday, Iran criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for his “belligerent statements” regarding the country. In a letter addressed to the United Nations Security Council, Iranian ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani accused Trump of breaching the UN Charter.

Iran’s government contended that Trump and high-ranking U.S. officials are attempting to “unlawfully justify the U.S. acts of aggression and war crimes against Yemen” with their comments. Earlier that day, Trump asserted that he would hold Iran accountable for any future assaults by the Yemen-based Huthi rebels, who are aligned with Tehran and have attacked foreign vessels in the Red Sea.

In essence, the Iranian government has vehemently opposed President Trump’s recent remarks, perceiving them as provocative and a violation of international law. The ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Iran are underscored by allegations of U.S. aggression against Iran’s allies in Yemen and Trump’s assertion of accountability for Iran in future attacks by armed groups.
