North Korea Condemns U.S. Military Action in Yemen as Law Violation

North Korea condemned U.S. military strikes in Yemen against Houthi rebels, calling them a “wanton” violation of international law. Ambassador Ma Tong-hui criticized the U.S.’ unilateral actions and urged the international community to protest against such “hooliganism.” He demanded an immediate cessation of force to protect regional peace.

On Tuesday, North Korea condemned the United States’ military actions against the Houthi rebels in Yemen, labeling them as a “wanton” breach of international law. Ma Tong-hui, North Korea’s ambassador to Egypt and Yemen, articulated this stance through the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) following reports of a significant U.S. military operation in Yemen targeting Iran-aligned rebels. This operation reportedly resulted in numerous casualties, including women and children, according to Yemeni health authorities.

The U.S. had earlier classified the Houthi rebels as a “foreign terrorist organization.” Ambassador Ma stated, “This military attack by the U.S. is a wanton violation of all international laws including the U.N. Charter,” emphasizing that such actions threaten the sovereignty of nations and are unjustifiable. He expressed apprehension regarding the U.S.’ unilateral geopolitical objectives, asserting that they infringe upon the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other nations.

Furthermore, Ma called upon the international community to express significant concern and objection to U.S. “hooliganism,” which he believes undermines regional peace and stability. He insisted that Washington must cease its indiscriminate use of force immediately, urging a collective response from nations worldwide to address these violations.

In summary, North Korea rebuked the United States for its military strikes in Yemen, characterizing them as a gross breach of international law and an affront to national sovereignty. North Korea’s ambassador called for international condemnation of U.S. actions and an immediate cessation of force, highlighting concerns over regional stability and peace.
