She emphasized public-private collaboration, the importance of various initiatives, and addressed the need for stringent measures against violent criminals. Boluarte’s leadership seeks to enhance national security and foster a safer environment for all citizens.

On Tuesday, President Dina Boluarte addressed business leaders in Peru, urging them to unite as a “single fist against crime and delinquency” through investments in 47 projects under the “Works for Taxes – Alliance for Security” initiative, totaling S/1.6 billion (approximately US$439 million). She emphasized the importance of collaboration in creating a safer environment for the nation.

Mrs. Boluarte highlighted key projects within this portfolio, including the construction of a new prison in the Cusco region, enhancements to Challapalca Prison in Tacna, modernization of Lurigancho Prison in Lima, establishment of a maximum-security block at Ancon I Prison, and improvements to security systems in strategic prisons across the country.

In her speech, she also noted the significance of building police stations in critical areas and investing in technology for criminal investigations. Additional measures include implementing video surveillance, deploying citizen security systems, acquiring patrol vehicles, and establishing operational bases for municipal police, along with training security personnel to bolster public safety.

The President underscored that all these efforts contribute to a safer Peru, reinforcing that both the public and private sectors must collaborate effectively. Since taking office on December 7, 2022, Mrs. Boluarte asserted that palpable improvements have been made in combating crime, with recent successes in capturing criminal gangs highlighted.

In launching the Alliance for Security, the President reiterated the commitment to a united front against crime, stating that strengthening security is essential for the country’s progress. She noted that her administration’s achievements surpass those of previous governments and will be shared soon.

Mrs. Boluarte urged the public to reject violence and road blockades as means of instigating change, advocating instead for a stable investment environment. Lastly, she reaffirmed her controversial call for implementing the death penalty for hitmen and others responsible for fatal crimes, advocating for serious discussion within the political sphere. The presentation of the “Works for Taxes – Alliance for Security” portfolio took place at the Government Palace in Lima, attended by State ministers and business leaders.

In conclusion, President Dina Boluarte’s appeal for business leaders to invest in security-focused projects aims to combat crime and enhance public safety in Peru. The initiatives presented, including prison improvements and technology for law enforcement, reflect a strategy fostered through public-private partnerships. Boluarte’s commitment to a secure and stable environment is evident in her call for unity against violence and her proposal for severe measures against violent criminals.
