Seaboard Jamaica Celebrates 25 Years of Excellence and Growth

Seaboard Jamaica celebrates 25 years of service, transitioning from a startup to a leading shipping company in Jamaica, growing from 14 to over 100 employees. The company emphasizes logistics, community support, and sustainability, reflecting its commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.

Seaboard Jamaica recently celebrated 25 years of transformative service in the shipping industry, having commenced operations in 1999. Initially starting with a small team of 14, the company has now expanded to over 100 dedicated employees, establishing a reputation for reliability and superior customer service within the expanding logistics sector in Jamaica.

The parent company, Seaboard Marine, has provided regional shipping services since 1983, and its Jamaican operations began in 1995 with the acquisition of the Miami-to-Kingston route. This was a strategic move to reinforce its presence in the local market, which was initially supported by Jamaica Freight and Shipping Company Limited.

Under the guidance of Chairman Charles Johnston and first CEO Grantley Stephenson, Seaboard Jamaica officially opened on October 1, 1999. The company has since fostered a robust workplace culture with a significant number of long-serving employees who contribute to its success, showcasing a family-like atmosphere praised by long-term staff.

Seaboard Jamaica has reached beyond Kingston, launching a bonded warehouse in Montego Bay in 2002, which significantly contributed to its growth. In 2004, it established an agency in Montego Bay, becoming the first shipping line to offer consistent weekly services through its dedicated vessel, MV Seaboard Sun.

In conclusion, Seaboard Jamaica’s journey over the past 25 years has been marked by significant growth, community engagement, and innovation in shipping solutions. With a focus on reliability, customer satisfaction, and sustainability, Seaboard Jamaica is well-positioned for a promising future, bolstered by the strong commitment of its dedicated staff and leadership.
