Algerian and Jordanian FMs Discuss Gaza Situation and Coordination Efforts

Algerian FM Ahmed Attaf spoke with Jordanian FM Ayman Safadi about the situation in Gaza. They expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis and disruption of ceasefire efforts. Both agreed to enhance coordination, particularly within the Arab League, regarding the Palestinian cause and other mutual interests.

On Thursday, Ahmed Attaf, the Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, received a phone call from Ayman Safadi, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan. This conversation reflects the close ties shared between Algeria and Jordan, as highlighted in a ministry statement.

The discussion primarily focused on the recent developments in the Gaza Strip, particularly following the resumption of Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. Both ministers conveyed their shared concerns regarding the deteriorating situation and its implications for peace in the region.

Attaf and Safadi expressed “deep concern over the disruption of efforts to reinforce the ceasefire and meet the urgent humanitarian and reconstruction needs of the Palestinian people,” indicating the gravity of the circumstances faced by the population. The disruption, as noted by them, jeopardizes the potential for a lasting and just resolution to the Palestinian issue.

Furthermore, both parties reached an agreement to enhance their communication and coordination concerning the Palestinian cause and other mutual interests. They emphasized the importance of their collaboration within the framework of their common organizations, particularly the Arab League, to advocate for resolution and support.

The conversation between the Algerian and Jordanian foreign ministers underscores a joint commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and a shared vision for a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue. Their intent to strengthen coordination within regional organizations like the Arab League illustrates a proactive approach to collaborative diplomacy in facing ongoing challenges.
