Cuban Prime Minister Concludes Visit to Congo, Emphasizing Healthcare Cooperation

The Cuban Prime Minister concluded his visit to Congo, meeting health collaborators and expressing gratitude for their dedication. The longstanding medical cooperation, which began in 1965, has led to significant contributions to healthcare. Discussions with Congolese leadership emphasized enhancing partnerships in various sectors, reinforcing the historic ties between the two countries.

The Prime Minister of Cuba concluded his visit to Congo, on which he met with health collaborators from Cuba to express gratitude for their significant contributions. During this meeting, he stated, “While the enemies of the Revolution try to discredit your work, you bring health to the world,” acknowledging the efforts of medical personnel in the country.

Cuban medical collaboration with the Congo began in 1965, showcasing over 500 professionals who have cared for more than 631,000 patients since then. The current Cuban medical brigade operates across four regions of the African nation, continuing this long-standing partnership.

On the final day of the visit, Congolese Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso, accompanied by the Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Claude Gakosso and International Cooperation Minister Denis Christel Sassou-N’guesso, bid farewell to the Cuban Prime Minister at noon local time.

The Cuban Prime Minister had arrived in Brazzaville the previous Monday, where he met with President Denis Sassou-N’Guesso to discuss the historic friendship and areas of future cooperation between the two nations. They reviewed significant milestones from over 60 years of relations, emphasizing mutual respect and collaboration.

In addition to healthcare, both leaders explored enhancing collaborative efforts across various sectors, including technology, human resources training in Cuba, tourism, culture, science, innovation, and defense. This dialogue highlighted a commitment to strengthen cooperation and expand bilateral ties.

The recent visit of the Cuban Prime Minister to Congo underscores the enduring partnership between the two nations, particularly in the healthcare sector.
