Iran Condemns U.S. Air Raids in Yemen and Israeli Strikes in Gaza

Iran has condemned U.S. airstrikes in Yemen and Israeli attacks in Gaza, citing civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei noted the simultaneous nature of these aggressions as indicative of a U.S.-Israeli conspiracy. Supreme Leader Khamenei also spoke against these actions, urging an immediate cessation of hostilities in Yemen, where recent strikes have caused significant civilian harm.

On March 20, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei condemned the ongoing U.S. airstrikes in Yemen and the intensified Israeli attacks in Gaza. His remarks followed U.S. airstrikes targeting Houthi positions that began on Saturday, coinciding with increased Israeli military operations in Gaza that commenced on Tuesday.

Baghaei expressed profound sorrow regarding civilian casualties, particularly affecting innocent women and children, and criticized the destruction of vital infrastructure in Yemen, attributing it to what he termed U.S. ‘military aggression.’ He asserted that nations providing Israel with military and financial support share complicity in the actions deemed as Israeli “crimes.”

The spokesperson emphasized the alarming synchronicity of U.S. airstrikes and the Israeli campaign in Gaza, suggesting a “joint U.S.-Israeli conspiracy” aimed at quashing any support for the Palestinian populace. Reports indicated that a new round of U.S. airstrikes on Yemen’s capital Sanaa occurred on the evening of March 20, injuring several civilians, including women and children.

According to al-Masirah TV, this was the second U.S. strike in less than a week, with earlier attacks having resulted in significant casualties, including 53 fatalities and 98 injuries, many being civilians. Concurrently, an Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip targeted mourners, killing at least 16 Palestinians and wounding over 30 others.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, also condemned the U.S. airstrikes against the Houthis, labeling them as a “crime that must be stopped.” In a video statement, he denounced these attacks, emphasizing their detrimental impact on Yemeni civilians. Prior to this, Iran refuted remarks from U.S. officials, including President Donald Trump, regarding Tehran’s involvement in Houthi attacks, which it characterized as “reckless and provocative.”

The recent actions by the U.S. and Israeli forces in Yemen and Gaza have drawn strong condemnation from Iranian officials, highlighting the humanitarian crises emerging from military aggression in these regions. With reports of civilian casualties and destructive impacts on infrastructure, there is a call for accountability regarding international military support. This situation underscores the complex geopolitical landscape and the perceived collusion in undermining support for oppressed populations.
