Julien Alfred, the Olympic 100m champion from Saint Lucia, will begin her outdoor season on April 5 at the Miramar Invitational. She is focusing on speed endurance and has set national records. The event is part of her preparations for the 2025 Tokyo competition, attracting strong community support.

Julien Alfred, Saint Lucia’s renowned Olympic 100m champion, is set to commence her outdoor season with great anticipation on April 5 at the Miramar Invitational. The event is officially confirmed by TC Management, marking a significant step towards the upcoming Tokyo 2025. At just 23 years old, Alfred has opted not to defend her World Indoor 60m title this season, focusing instead on developing her speed endurance.

Alfred has recently set national records for both the 300m and 400m distances. Following her historic win of Saint Lucia’s first Olympic gold medal in the 100m last year in Paris, she also secured a silver in the 200m. Her coach, Edrick Floreal, emphasized that her training this off-season is specifically targeted towards enhancing her performance in the half-lap event.

The Ansin Sports Complex, known for its rapid track, previously witnessed USA’s Sha’Carri Richardson sprinting an impressive 10.57 seconds in the 100m, albeit under strong wind conditions. Abby Steiner also showcased her talent by winning the 200m with a world-leading time of 22.23 seconds. Although Alfred’s specific event for the upcoming competition remains undecided, support from the Saint Lucian community is anticipated to be unwavering.

An enthusiastic Facebook post from the Saint Lucia Association of South Florida rallied fans to support Alfred, stating: “Get ready to bring the heat and make some noise because on Saturday, April 5, 2025, Julien Alfred—our very own Olympian, silver and gold medalist, and the fastest woman in the world—will be lighting up the track at the Miramar Invitational!” The organization urges supporters to wear national colors and demonstrate their pride.

The 2025 Miramar Invitational is recognized as a Silver event on the World Athletics Continental Tour. Following this event, Alfred is expected to compete in the Bislett Games in Oslo on June 12 and the Bauhaus Galan in Stockholm on June 15, with the World Championships scheduled for September.

Julien Alfred’s upcoming season reflects her dedication and commitment to excellence as she prepares for significant competitions. Her decision to focus on speed endurance and tackle new events positions her as a formidable contender on the track. With strong community support and ambitious goals, Alfred is poised to further elevate her remarkable athletic career in the forthcoming season.
