According to SOHR, after perpetrating this act described as a “horrific massacre,” the assailants swiftly fled the scene. This brutal occurrence has instigated fear and outrage among the local populace in the Al-Idikhar neighborhood of Homs.

Since the commencement of 2025, targeted assassinations and retaliatory attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 390 individuals across several Syrian provinces. Among the deceased are 382 men, six women, and two children, highlighting the grave situation in the region.

In response to the increasing violence, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has urged Syria’s transitional government to conduct thorough investigations into the killings of civilians in Alawite-majority villages and to ensure accountability for those involved in these atrocities.
