INS Tushil, the newest guided missile stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, recently concluded its inaugural port visit to Dakar, Senegal. This visit, which lasted three days, served to reinforce bilateral relations between India and Senegal. During this time, Captain Peter Varghese engaged in discussions with Rear Admiral Abdou Sene, the Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Navy, focusing on enhancing naval cooperation and collaborative maritime security initiatives.
The visit featured a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) that displayed the Indian Navy’s NISHAR – MITRA terminal and included a joint Yoga session with the Yoga Association of Senegal and Navy personnel. The frigate also welcomed approximately 150 visitors from both the Indian diaspora and the local community, underscoring the increasing presence of the Indian Navy in the region.
As the visit concluded, INS Tushil participated in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) alongside the Senegalese naval ship PHM Niani before departing. This engagement emphasizes the significance of collaborative efforts in bolstering regional security and signifies a pivotal step towards enhancing interoperability between the two naval forces.
