The Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) recently undertook a regional study tour with the theme of enhancing security through strengthened industrial capacity and defense partnerships. On March 21, 2025, they visited the Republic of Seychelles, led by Deputy Commandant Brigadier David Chesire, and were warmly received by His Excellency President Wavel Ramkalawan at State House in Victoria.
During this visit, Brigadier Chesire expressed gratitude to President Ramkalawan for the warm reception and highlighted the strong relations between Kenya and Seychelles. He also acknowledged the hospitality and support provided by various institutions in Seychelles throughout the delegation’s stay.
In his address to the delegation, President Ramkalawan offered insightful advice, stressing the significance of focus, loyalty, and patriotism. He urged the student officers to remain steadfast in their commitments, stating, “Remain true to your countries and your commitments,” while motivating them to contribute to a secure and prosperous future for their nations.
The delegation included prestigious attendees such as Major General Michael Rosette, the Chief of Defence Forces of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces, along with senior military officers. Colonel Lois Wataka, the Kenya Defence Attaché, accompanied the Kenyan delegates, which comprised faculty members and student officers from various African countries, including Kenya, Burundi, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zambia.
The JCSC delegation’s visit to Seychelles highlights the importance of regional partnerships in enhancing security and defense readiness.
