President Masoud Pezeshkian urges the Iranian public to display unity on International Quds Day to reaffirm support for Palestine. The day, established by Imam Khomeini, serves as a global protest against Israeli aggression. Iranian military officials echo these sentiments, emphasizing their commitment to Palestinian liberation. Hamas reiterates the steadfastness of the Palestinian people against displacement efforts by Israel and the US.
President Masoud Pezeshkian has urged the Iranian populace to exhibit their unity and solidarity on the approaching International Quds Day. He emphasized that a significant public turnout would highlight the Islamic Republic’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause. The President expressed hope for a “glorious Quds Day” where the people would showcase their collective strength to the world during his inaugural Cabinet meeting for the new Iranian calendar year.
International Quds Day, instituted by the late Imam Khomeini, is commemorated annually on the last Friday of Ramadan. This occasion acts as a global forum for Muslims and advocates for freedom to vocalize their solidarity with the Palestinian people and to denounce the Israeli occupation and aggression against them.
Supporting the President’s call, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic issued a statement, encouraging all nations, particularly Muslims, to participate in Quds Day events. The statement emphasized the day’s importance as a representation of resistance against worldwide oppression, especially against the injustices perpetrated by the Zionist regime.
The statement articulated that, “The International Quds Day is the day when free nations and Muslims of the world take the stage against the oppression, tyranny, and wickedness of the Zionist regime and its supporters.” It asserted that the observance of this day, inspired by the leadership of Imam Khomeini, symbolizes resistance against global dominance, particularly that of the United States.
Additionally, Brigadier General Esmaeil Qa’ani, commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), reiterated Iran’s unwavering dedication to Palestinian liberation. Addressing participants during the “Manbar al-Quds” program, General Qa’ani underscored Iran’s support for resistance forces, referencing both direct assistance and military efforts like “The True Promise.”
He commended the 2023 Operation al-Aqsa Storm conducted by Hamas and other Gaza-based forces, recognizing it as a demonstration of unity among various resistance factions. He stated that Iran’s backing would remain until the liberation of al-Quds and the removal of the Zionist regime was achieved.
Hamas has recently reaffirmed the Palestinian people’s strong opposition to any attempts by the Israeli regime and the US to forcibly displace them from Gaza, where hostilities have escalated since October 2023. The group stated unequivocally, “No migration except to al-Quds,” asserting the determination of the Palestinian people to resist any expulsion efforts.
The calls from Iranian leadership, particularly from President Pezeshkian and military officials, accentuate the significance of International Quds Day as a platform for global solidarity with Palestine. The statements highlight an enduring commitment to resistance against perceived oppression and an unwavering support for Palestinian rights. The unity of the Iranian nation is positioned as crucial for showcasing this solidarity to the world, reinforcing the message of resilience and support for the Palestinian cause.
