He also honored the graves of Namibia’s first and third Presidents, Sam Nujoma and Hage Gottfried Geingob, respectively.
Trutnev shared insights from his previous encounter with Nujoma over 20 years ago, highlighting the former President’s significant role in Namibia’s liberation. He remarked, “The first President of Namibia was the leader of the liberation movement in Namibia and gave freedom to the people of Namibia.” Trutnev expressed a desire to honor Nujoma’s memory, noting the late leader’s appreciation for the Soviet Union’s contributions to Namibia’s struggle.
During his visit, Trutnev is scheduled to meet with Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, to further discuss areas of mutual interest and cooperation between the two nations.
