AzerGold CJSC’s Chairman Zakir Ibrahimov engaged with Guinea-Bissau officials to discuss future mining collaborations. The company aims to modernize the country’s mining sector by employing advanced geological research techniques. A Non-Disclosure Agreement was signed to facilitate cooperation in assessing promising mineral areas.

On December 2nd, AzerGold CJSC’s Executive Board Chairman, Zakir Ibrahimov, engaged with a delegation from the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, which included Carlos Pinto Pereira, the Foreign Minister, and Viriato Cassama, the Minister of Environment. During the meeting, Mr. Ibrahimov showcased AzerGold’s accomplishments and outlined its strategic vision to enhance economic efficiency in mining while prioritizing environmental protection and social responsibility.

Mr. Ibrahimov emphasized the company’s proven track record of successful international partnerships and expressed interest in extending operations beyond Azerbaijan to regions rich in minerals, particularly Africa. Minister Pereira expressed Guinea-Bissau’s eagerness to cultivate bilateral relations and highlighted the potential opportunities available within the nascent mining sector.

Minister Cassama pointed out that the current geological data for Guinea-Bissau, derived from outdated Soviet-era research, needs modernization. He underscored the necessity for advanced geological surveys to identify promising mining areas. In response, the parties discussed collaboration on innovative geological assessment techniques, with a specific focus on mapping and hyperspectral satellite imaging methods.

An agreement was reached for AzerGold to evaluate prospective mining sites across Guinea-Bissau, paving the way for preliminary geological exploration work and subsequent exploitation of identified gold deposits. A Non-Disclosure Agreement was finalized between Mr. Ibrahimov and Minister Cassama to facilitate this cooperative endeavor.

The mining sector in Guinea-Bissau represents an emerging industry with significant potential for development. Historically, the geological assessments have relied on outdated methods, thus necessitating a collaborative approach with experienced international partners. AzerGold CJSC, a prominent Azerbaijani mining entity, is seeking to leverage its innovative technologies and successful operational expertise to transform Guinea-Bissau’s mining landscape, thereby fostering economic growth and responsible resource management in the region.

The meeting between AzerGold CJSC and Guinea-Bissau officials marks a pivotal step toward the modernization and expansion of the country’s mining sector. By integrating innovative geological research methods and leveraging AzerGold’s experience, Guinea-Bissau aims to uncover its mineral wealth responsibly and sustainably. The strategic partnership could usher in a new era of bilateral cooperation focused on economic development and environmental stewardship.
