Ayesa Selected for Key Section Design of Peru’s $3.4B Ring Road Project

Ayesa has been appointed to design a 9-mile section of Lima’s $3.4 billion Ring Road, part of a 22-mile project connecting 11 districts. The engineering services will encompass traffic management, safety compliance, and advanced transport systems. The project aims to generate over 70,000 jobs and impact 4.5 million residents, underlining its significance for urban connectivity.

Ayesa, a Spanish engineering firm, is set to design a crucial section of Lima, Peru’s $3.4 billion Ring Road project. This initiative is spearheaded by a consortium comprising Sacyr, Acciona, and Cintra, a subsidiary of Ferrovial. Ayesa’s responsibilities will focus on a nine-mile stretch of the overall 22-mile highway, incorporating essential features such as three lanes in each direction, twin tunnels, and toll stations.

In a press release, Mariluz Ramírez, Ayesa’s transport division director for Latin America, emphasized the comprehensive nature of the project, stating that the design will also include multiple structures, retaining walls, side toll stations, and lateral roads to enhance local traffic flow. Over a period of 35 months, Ayesa will conduct definitive design cost and feasibility studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory, engineering, and safety standards.

Known as the Anillo Vial Periférico, this ring road will connect 11 districts in Lima and the port city of Callao. Funded through a public-private partnership, the project’s operational and maintenance costs will be supported by toll revenues. Peru’s Transportation Minister, Raúl Pérez-Reyes, highlighted the project’s significance for enhancing transportation efficiency and connectivity for residents.

The design will also integrate advanced technologies, including building information management and intelligent transport systems, aimed at promoting safe infrastructure management. According to the consortium, the construction phase is expected to create over 70,000 jobs, benefiting 4.5 million people in the region.

The development of Lima’s $3.4 billion Ring Road project, with Ayesa leading the design of a significant section, promises to enhance transportation efficiency in the city. The project not only aims to ensure advanced engineering design and compliance with safety standards but also seeks to create thousands of jobs and connect multiple districts. Successful implementation will significantly impact the daily lives of millions while contributing to local economic growth.
