The Đà Nẵng International Marathon 2025 will occur from March 21 to 23, welcoming over 7,000 runners from 72 countries. Notable participants include elite athletes from various nations. The event emphasizes charity fundraising, aiming for $20,000, while celebrating Đà Nẵng’s 50th Reunification Anniversary.
The Đà Nẵng International Marathon 2025 is set to take place from March 21 to 23, attracting over 7,000 runners from 72 countries and territories, thus setting a new record for the event’s 12-year history. Organizers anticipate nearly 3,000 international participants, marking a 42 percent increase from 2024. This occasion provides a special experience for marathoners and their families, combining athletic competition with a beach vacation in Đà Nẵng.
Participants will compete in several categories including a full marathon (42km), half marathon (21km), a 5km fun run, and two ‘Ronny Dash’ distances (500m and 1.5km) specially for children. Prominent athletes scheduled to compete in the 42km event include Kenya’s Shadrack Kipkemboi, Japan’s Issel Kawabata, and Morocco’s Otmane Menbar, alongside Vietnam’s leading runners such as Phạm Ngọc Phan and Huỳnh Anh Khôi.
Notably, the 2025 marathon has phased out the 10km distance to enhance participation in the full and half marathons. The scenic coastal city of Đà Nẵng continues to be a top destination for elite runners, adding significance as the race coincides with the 50th Anniversary of Đà Nẵng City’s Reunification (March 29, 1975 – March 29, 2025).
March’s cooler climate presents an ideal setting for runners, with organizers confident that this marathon will serve as a perfect gathering for athletes and their families. The event is also expected to raise a record amount of $20,000 for charity, thanks to efforts led by Dennis Zaborac and the Silver Stride team.
This funding will support various charitable organizations in Đà Nẵng, including the Plum Orphanage and the Đà Nẵng Association for Agent Orange victims. Last year’s marathon saw Kiptoo Edwin from Kenya and Vietnamese runner Phạm Thị Bình claim the top titles in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively. Additionally, the marathon holds the distinction of being the first in Vietnam certified by the International Amateur Athletics Association (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.
The Đà Nẵng International Marathon 2025 is poised to be a landmark event with a record number of participants and an ample increase in international representation. The race encapsulates not only athletic achievement but also community support through substantial fundraising efforts. As it coincides with a significant anniversary for Đà Nẵng, this marathon promises to be both a competitive and culturally enriching experience for those involved.
