Recent Houthi Missile Attacks Cause Alarms Across Israel for Third Day

Houthi missile attacks on Israel have triggered air raid sirens for three consecutive days. The IDF intercepted the missiles, causing no reported injuries but delays in flights. Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Netanyahu, provided statements addressing the threat, indicating a continued escalation if hostilities do not cease.

Air raid sirens sounded in central Israel and the West Bank late Friday due to a missile attack launched by Houthi terrorists from Yemen. This incident marked the third attack in as many days by the group. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported successfully intercepting the missile outside Israeli airspace, which resulted in alerts regarding potential debris. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or damages, and emergency services did not receive any incident notifications.

The missile was reportedly aimed at Ben Gurion Airport, with Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree confirming that they had fired a ‘Palestine 2’ hypersonic ballistic missile. He asserted that the attack was a direct response to perceived injustices against Palestinians in Gaza. During this time, flights arriving from Athens and Frankfurt experienced delays, along with other flights that were briefly diverted but later permitted to land safely.

The missile strike coincided with a speech by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in the Knesset, where alarms were visible on screens, yet he remained unaware of the situation. He questioned how no sounds from the attack were audible before proceeding with his speech. Protocol dictates that lawmakers only evacuate if the alert explicitly concerns the parliament building.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was not present in the Knesset chamber during the missile attack. He sought refuge in a secure location and later informed Channel 14 that, “The Houthis are already paying — and they will pay more.” This was the second missile attack carried out by the Houthis against Israel within two days, with another incident occurring earlier in the week that was intercepted over Saudi Arabia. The group indicated that attacks against Israeli military operations in Gaza would escalate if hostilities persisted.

The recent missile attacks by Houthi terrorists against Israel have raised significant security concerns, leading to air raid alerts and flight delays. Although the IDF successfully intercepted the missiles, the situation remains tense with Houthi claims of retaliation against Israeli actions in Gaza. The responses from Israeli officials highlight the seriousness with which these threats are taken as the situation evolves.
